A 1980s Scrapbook Cover Design

Robert Opie is a well-known author of many books about British nostalgia and consumer history. Initially, as a teenager, Robert Opie gathered together contemporary packaging, everything from cereal boxes to cigarette packs. Time Tunnel – Come on a journey to discover 150 years of remarkable brand stories and consumer culture from Victorian times to today.

The collection started in 1963 with a pack of Munchies purchased in Inverness and its first exhibition in 1975 at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. 1984 – 2001 The Museum of Packaging and Advertising is open to the public in Gloucester, and 2005 in London, followed by relocation in 2015 to larger premises.

Assignment

Design a Cover for a new book for the Robert Opie Collection of brands of ages.

The 1980s Scrapbook concept requires research and understanding of the branding or its era, what events marked the decade and influences from around the world that distinguishes it from others. The book can not cover everything.

The scrapbook needs to quantify the most significant parts of the decade.

 

Objective

Collect 1980’s unique brands of its time. People that inspired the age. The fashion of its time. Gadgets are remembered for their time. Music. Events.
